International Schools’ and Youth Education Conference and Festival – Friday 7th May 2010

‘Come To- GATHER’ – A Cultural and Multi-disciplinary Arts Festival for Youth in Europe
The conference will be a celebration and dissemination of the most recent outcomes from the EU Comenius Project –‘To-Gather’ and will bring together, educators and youth from around Europe. The conference and festival, which will address ‘Active citizenship and Identity’, will take place at the Cornerstone Creative Campus, Capstone Building, Everton on Friday 7th May 2010 and welcomes both staff and students, as well as teachers and their pupils from secondary schools. The conference in the morning will include keynote speaker, Professor Bill Chambers, Pro-vice Chancellor, Liverpool Hope University and guest speaker, Drs. Wim Kratsborn, Hanze University, Groningen, The Netherlands. The day’s programme of events will also showcase performances on the theme of citizenship and identity from around Europe including presentations and workshops from universities in the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey and the Slovak Republic.
Aims:
Develop young people as socially engaged and active European citizens
Create a positive media representation of young people to increase aspirations and transform cultural prejudices
Widen participation for young people to access and value other cultures
Develop young people’s vocational skills
