The teaser of the film ]It’s hard to become who you are’ has been shot in Groningen.
The film is the story of Europe as a young woman (played by Duygu Akkaya), traveling through the past, present, and the future of Europe, related to Northern Africa and the Arab world. She is confronted with the self and the other. Finally she is developed into a multiple choice identity, balancing the five minds for the future. She travels by train meeting five archetypes of young people and visiting historical places such as the agora, the Alhambra, Amsterdam, Ypres, Berlin, and Brussels.
In the teaser the essence of the film has to be visualised: it’s hard fun.
The Crew was full of energy and they did good work. The shooting started at the Ossemarkt with the skating of Europe on red skeelers. Despite the cold and snowy weather conditions the camera had to do many take-overs.
Another part of the teaser was shot at Zernikeplein at the Hanze University. There was a demonstration scene and a lot of students from Hanze University joined as fıgurants. And many others were watching with much interest.
The most important part of the teaser was a trainscene that was shot in a real driving train which was going from Groningen to Zwolle. The crew was during two hours in the First Class on the way to Zwolle and back. Everybody had to work hard and it all went well.
The concentration and the atmsophere were great. A lot of passangers was passing by with curiosity and were asking questions about the film.
Students that are following the minor ‘Your identity in Europe were acting in the teaser as the youth of today. They also made a song in the studio called “Create Your Future”.
“We are minor students everybody is a star
I want to learn with you no matter who you are
You are someone else ı really want to know
Create your future, let’s go…”
