To-Gather Show

Lyrics: Wim Kratsborn (2009)
Music: Bob Dylan (‘Desolation row’, 1965)

We’re on To-Gather Tour, magician, dancer, clown
Lectures, workshops, learning routes, To-Gather is in town
Here comes the youth of today, between 25 and 3
It’s hard to become who you are as a multiple choice identity
Is this Riga, Miskolc, Coimbra, Kortrijk, Presov or Liverpool?
Haslev, Groningen, Damacus, Den Bosch, Ljubljana or Istanbul?
For the benefit of Mister K, a splendid time is guaranteed for all, you know
Listen and dance at the To-Gather Show

Welcome to Howard Gardner, Fred Korthagen, Joseph Mifsud from EMUNI,
Oliver and Katarina on the website, we can work it out
With Jan as the producer, Hans and Noël design the lay out
Let’s go shopping with Marijke in the theofiction-shop
Frans and Karin are creative, Leonardo da Vinci’s in the spot
And everybody’s coming to learn and know
To sing and dance at To-Gather Show

Layla teaches drama, Burcu writes for thee

And braindrops keep falling on Robi’s head

Good work by Hernik, Darja, Petra, hear future’s call
Don’t talk about the weather at To-Gather Festival

She’s like a hurricane, when she’s in trance
Please don’t forget Karen and Lammert Been

What’s in the project To-Gather for you?

And I said hey hey hey, what’s going on’ (Four Non Blondes)

In the project ‘To-Gather’ young people can;

Young people are growing up in a turbulent world. It’s hard to become who they are. We want to help young people to become a ‘multiple choice identity’, knowing what’s going on and making the right choices. Let’s go for it. Because times are changing, merely focussing on money and fame is not enough for today’s youth.

At best they are concerned in a responsible fashion with respect towards their personal goals; their family, friends, peers and colleagues; their mission or sense of calling; the institutions with which they are affiliated; and lastly, the wider world’ (Howard Gardner).

Although it’s called ‘information society’, there’s a lack of good information. This is why we emphasize the gathering of knowledge from seven disciplines: history, psychology, sociology, economy, philosophy, aesthetics (music) and pedagogy. That is why they can use the intercultural dialogue and multiple intelligences such as aesthetics and especially music.

The bigger the island of knowledge, the longer the shore of wondering’ (Emerson).

Being knowledge-based means to know what is going on (‘real life learning’) , who you are and who you want be (‘lifelong learning’), through using modern learning strategies, working forms and media.

And that is why we have developed the project To-Gather to transfer young people into a ‘life-artists’, by designing themselves as an active democratic citizen in relation to the self and the other. Then they may live a life as a sense-opened, knowledge-based, problem-solving, communicative, creative, cooperative and reflective citizen in Europe who can also relate to Northern Africa and the Middle East. Furthermore we guide young people in a learning route of seven steps through ‘the multiple society’ and through your learning process. Each step is a phase in this learning process and a step towards democratic citizenship. It’s a learning and a living strategy to become a good and balanced person, using the five minds for the future. These minds are competences and talents that take them forward in the 21st century.

The first mind is the disciplined mind to gather knowledge about scholarly disciplines and to master the major ways of thinking. We are all flooded with information and that is why it is essential to develop the synthesizing mind by selecting and relating information. The creative mind is about breaking new ground, putting forward new ideas, posing unfamiliar questions and finding unexpected answers. It’s about thinking out of the box. But first they need to have a box. These three minds are oriented on the individual. The respectful and the ethical mind are oriented on the collective, oriented on the other and society. The respectful mind recognizes and respects differences, seeks to understand others and to work together. The ethical mind is about good work.

To-Gather project

Célcsoportját a 3-tól 25 éves korosztály képezi.

A témák a következők:

  1. Identitás
  2. Család és barátok
  3. A jó munka
  4. Migráció és mobilitás
  5. A másik

A tananyagok játékos feladatok formában készültek el, a négy korosztály intellektuális fejlődéséhez és szintjéhez igazodva.

A projekt célja olyanná tenni a fiatalokat, akik:

And I said hey hey hey, what’s going on’ (Four Non Blondes)

We gaan ervoor.

‘The respectful mind’

‘The ethical mind’ gaat over waarden en het gebruik ervan in de realiteit (‘ good work’).
