Togather

Networking and educating for creative autonomous being

program

What are we doing in relation to the final product of To-Gather and the conference?

  1. The learning routes about the five themes are designed for the age-groups of 3-6, 7-11, 12-16 and 17-25. These learning routes will be ready on November 9. Each partner or country has, in cooperation with the other partners, developed a specific theme: Route 1 ‘Identity’ by The Netherlands, ‘Family and friends’ by Portugal, ‘Good work’ by Denmark, ‘Migration and mobility’ by Latvia and ‘The other’ by Slovenia.
  2. The game ‘The European House’ is designed by students from the School of Education, the ICT-school and School of Media and Communication. The coordination of the game is done by Marijke van de Hel, Theo Verbeek and Wim Kratsborn. This is the most complex and innovative part of the project.
  3. The book ‘Europe makes sense’ is written by Wim Kratsborn and co-writers such as Howard Gardner, Fred Korthagen, Robi Kroflic, Burcu Akkaya, Svenja Hintz, Susana Goncalves, Katja Jeznik, Rob de Haas, Nilufer Pemnecioglu, Sigrun Adalbjarnadottir, Hugo Verkest, Doug Springate, Henrik Bak, Sandra Rone and Nicole Raymer. The book will be published in 2010 and parts of the book will already be presented at the conference.
  4. Next to the cd ‘The Musical History Tour’ with The Gathering, the cd ‘Sound for Europe’ will be presented at the conference. Since 2007 Wim Kratsborn is composing and producing music with the help of the producer Jan Doddema and ‘The passengers in time’ such as Carla Geveke, Arjan van der Linde, Julija Zujeva, Santa Miscenkova, Layla Radjab and Miranda Brouwer. Also songs from the bands Audiofeel and Vanderlinde and the Dutch singer Nynke Laverman will be part of the cd. With the help of Amnesty we hopefully get permission to use songs of Greenday, REM and U2.
  5. The website www.to-gather.com will be the source of inspiration, information and communication. The webmaster is Poper in Ljubljana with Oliver Vodeb and Katarina Pollak. The website will play an important role before, during and after the conference.
  6. We are very happy and proud to work together with Joseph Mifsud, the president of EMUNI, the first international university in Europe with a network of 36 countries around the Mediterranean.
  7. We are working on the follow-up of To-Gather in 2009-2011 with 12 partners from 12 different countries, associated partners and NGO’s. If our application will be approved by the Agency in Brussels (August 2009) we will concentrate on the implementation of To-Gather at schools in Europe and on the To-Gather-Tour in order to organise festivals at different places in Europe, inclusive a lecture, a workshop, a debate, an exhibition and a rock-band.

So let’s meet in ‘Our European House’ and ‘a splendid time is guaranteed for all’ (John Lennon)

Lana Kuscer

Lana Kuscer, born in 1985 in Ljulbjana in Slovenia plays flute and studied in London at the famous Royal College of Music. She really is an international prizewinner. She has performed in all the major halls in her native Slovenia as well as giving concerts in the Netherlands and earlier this year with Siu Chui Li in Portugal.

Margarita Kamjaka

Margarita Kamjaka, born in Riga (?) in Latvia, is a famous dancer and performer of dances especially from the Orient. In her country and Eastern Europe she won a price as the best oriental dancer of 2008.

Audiofeelband

Audiofeel is an alternative- rock band from Landgraaf in the Netherlands. The music of Audiofeel is charaterised by a manually and grotesque sound, varied with subtleness and vulnerability. Besides, willfulness and ‘feel’ are also of great influence in their songs.

In relative short time the band acquired a nice live reputation.

Vanderlindeband

Vasumathi Badrinathan

A performing artiste of rare sensitivity and versatility is Vasumathi Badrinathan. As a vocalist of Indian classical Carnatic music, Vasumathi combines a fine blend of tradition and creativity in her singing style. Vasumathi’s rich, bass voice is rightly suited for exploring the profound and evocative melodies of Carnatic music.

Joris Luijendijk

He has studied politics, history and Arabian and anthropology in Amsterdam and Caïro. From 1998 till 2003 he was correspondent for newspapers, radio and television in Caïro, Beirut and East-Jerusalem.. About his experiences as a journalist in the Middle East he wrote the book ‘They are just people’ and he did get several prices for this book.

From 2006 till 2009 he presented the interview-programme ‘Summerguests’ and “Winterguests’ on television and he talked to Naomi Klein, Desmond Tutu, Gari Kasparov, Jeffrey Sachs and Tariq Ramadan.

On the conference ‘Our European House’ on 9-11-2009 he will be ‘the chairman of the day’.
